Brake option for 750kg single axle Twin trailer

Some vehicles cannot tow an unbraked 750 kg trailer but may take a 750 kg braked trailer.

You will find two maximum traction weights in the conformity document for your towing vehicle. A weight for unbraked trailers (eg 550 kg) and a braked trailer weight (eg 1000 kg). In our example, the vehicle cannot tow the unbraked 750 kg trailer, but can tow it with the braking system.

The fact that the trailer is braked does not change anything administratively for Belgian vehicles, in fact what matters is the MMA weight of the trailer. So a 750 kg braked trailer does not have to pass the technical control and a simple B license is sufficient. It is the insurance of your vehicle that covers the trailer equipped with a replica of your vehicle's plate.

A braked trailer also helps reduce your stopping distance because the trailer wheels will brake the trailer.

This Option must be ordered before the manufacture of the trailer, it is not possible to add this option to an existing trailer.
